Join RETI Center & Gowanus Dredgers, Saturday July 25th for City of Water Day, "Two Neighborhoods. One Harbor." and experience an unforgettable day on Brooklyn's waterfront as we celebrate the waterways that connect Red Hook and Gowanus.

No registration required—just show up and join the fun!

Here's what's happening:

  • 1:00–5:00 PM – Explore a stunning photo exhibit and film screening by Sophie Fenwick, capturing the beauty and history of NYC's waterfront from the 1990s to today.

  • 2:00–4:00 PM – Enjoy a live musical accompaniment by Leslie Braver as the film comes to life.

  • 2:00–3:00 PM – Meet RETI Center on the waterfront for a hands-on water quality activity and discover the stories, science, and history behind waterfront access in Red Hook and Gowanus.

  • 3:00–7:00 PM – Get out on the water for a FREE community canoe paddle and shoreline cleanup!

Whether you're paddling for the first time, exploring local history, enjoying live music, or simply spending the day by the harbor, there's something for everyone.

Come celebrate, connect with your community, and help care for the waterways that make our neighborhoods unique.

  • All ages and skill levels welcome

  • Life jackets provided

  • Walk-ups encouraged, no registration needed

  • Signed waiver required
