A living, floating building
RETI Center’s uniquely new bio-habitat will support marine life from the sea floor to the sun’s rays. It will be home to a solar-powered greenhouse for year-round growth of aquatic plants, hanging mussel ropes and oyster baskets for cleaning the water cleansing; and lines of kelp that will form an underwater garden surrounding a concrete hull that will thrive with sea life.
This project received funding as part of the 2022 Architecture and Design Independent Projects Grant, a partnership through NYSCA and the Architectural League.
